Batch Timestamp and Attribute Change

Changes the timestamps and attributes of several files and folders at once. Select the items and choose Batch timestamp and attributes from the context menu (next to batch rename). It can also be opened from the pen icon that appears when you hover over the modified, created or attributes row in the properties pane.

  • Which timestamps: Created, modified and accessed can be selected individually.

  • How the value is decided: Choose between Current time, A specific date and time, Match the creation time and Match the modification time. Matching the creation time is useful when photos or downloads ended up with the download moment as their modification time.

  • Entering a date and time: The same flexible formats as the search date filter apply. A date can be written as 20260819, 0819 or 2026/8/19; a time as 0930, 09:30 or 9:30:45. The time is optional and defaults to midnight. Omitting the year means the current year.

  • Attributes: Read-only, hidden and archive can each be left as is, set or cleared. Attributes you did not name are never touched.

  • Preview before applying: The list shows the resulting values, and only the entries that actually change are highlighted in colour and bold. The arrow on the left marks a row that will change. The footer reads "M of N items will change", so a setting that changes nothing is visible right away. Items that already hold the target value are not counted.

  • Match the date taken (for photos): Choosing Match the date taken applies the date recorded in a photo's EXIF data to the timestamps you selected. It is meant for photos whose modification time became the moment they were downloaded or copied, so they can be put back in the order they were shot. Files without a date taken are left untouched, so mixing photos and other files in one selection is safe. If none of the selected files carry one, the window says so on the spot. The EXIF data itself is never rewritten — that risks damaging the image, so it is not supported.

  • Undo: Ctrl+Z restores the previous timestamps and attributes. Only the values this operation actually changed are restored.

  • Read-only files: Timestamps cannot be written while the read-only attribute is set, so the app clears it temporarily and restores it afterwards. Nothing extra is required from you.
